Tony spent nearly 11 years in the Royal Marines, serving around the world, ending up in Arbroath, Scotland. 
In 1972, when he had just earned his green beret, he took part in the Royal Tournament, which involved abseiling from the roof of Earls Court (c220 feet) and also winning the race up Gibraltar, when on HMS Intrepid.
